This watch integrates an oil filled bourdon tube depth gauge (the same technology used in this Rolex prototype). This oil (or to be technical, Corum 130-330-47-0138BN34 WoMen's watch fire resistant hydraulic liquid’ ) filled gauge gives a pressure reading up to 200 feet, and is superior to air filled depth gauges because they are more accurate at shallower depths as well as generally more reliable. The depth is indicated on the dial by the large orange hand. What’s really cool, and a little surprising about this example, is that the depth gauge is still functioning correctly.
This was a pretty serious watch for the time; with real functionality and a sense of purpose that is so often lacking in the desk divers of today. This just makes it that much cooler. They have a half-century's replica Breitling Windrider Chrono Cockpit watch worth of NOS parts at their disposal, and they are not afraid to use them, thankfully for us.They are also just a great bunch of people, as you'll see in our video. We went behind the scenes of Steve Kivel's Central Watch in hopes that you, the readers, will have a newfound understanding of this small but serious watch shop here in New York.Click here to be taken to Central Watch's website and watch our video below. Even if it is ‘only’ rated to Corum 138-181-20-0001 BA44 Men's watch metres, we’d be willing to bet it was more likely to see serious water than most 1000+ meter watches today. But, given it’s venerable 30 odd years in existence, we reckon you’d want to consider keeping this watch mostly on dry land. For more infomation on Aquadives, including some great print ads, check out this MWR forum thread.Click here for the sales page (and be prepared to scroll down a bit).
